La Fontaine is a 4 star Guest house in Franschhoek made up of of a Victorian era homestead and hostoric Linquenda and Campbell House. Just three minutes from the centre of town, you couldnt get a more convenient location and I can highly recommend it. I stayed there on Staurday night after spending a long lazy Saturday at the Shiraz and Charcuterie event at Anthonji Rupert Estate.
The 14 rooms are spotlessly clean and decorated with old world charm. You could stay in the main house, a family garden room or if you are in a group, rent out the rooms in the victorian house that is part of the property. An established garden seperates all the buildings so it feels very private. Breakfasts was traditional and generous.
This is a little about what it looks like:
The annual shiraz and charcuterie event took place at Anthonij Rupert in Franschhoek for the first time this year and it was a stunning location. It was also a very warm day, so the outside lawn set up was perfect. We landed up buying wine and platters of delicious cured meat and had a picnic on the grass. Top Shiraz producers showcase a few of their special wines and this is a great event if you are a fan of this cultivar.
